Latest Skills Bulletin Highlights Sectors with Skills Shortages
The latest National Skills Bulletin has been published by Solas, Irelands’ further education and training authority. The report highlights areas where employment has seen growth (including construction, hospitality and education sectors) as well as key areas where skill shortages are hampering growth (including ICT, science, engineering, health and business & financial sectors). Migrant labour has proved important in meeting demand in key areas such as health and IT.
Andrew Brownlee, Executive Director of Solas, said that the further education sector is evolving to meet skills shortages with provision of new traineeships, apprenticeships and Post Leaving Cert courses (PLC’s) aimed at targeting employment opportunities.
The key findings of the report are shown below, with the full report available at the following link; http://www.solas.ie/SkillsToAdvance/Documents/National%20Skills%20Bulletin%202018.pdf
