Day 1: Introduction to Mixed Media
- Learn what “mixed media” means: combining different materials and techniques (paper, paint, fabric, found objects, etc.)
- View example artworks across styles (abstract, narrative, whimsical).
- Discuss creative freedom and play in the mixed media process. • Begin warm-up explorations with mark-making and simple materials.
Day 2: Collage Layering
- Use magazine clippings, old book pages, fabric scraps, and found objects.
- Explore composition basics: balance, contrast, and texture.
- Include personal ephemera (tickets, letters) to encourage storytelling.
Day 3: Acrylic Paint + Texture
- Learn how to build texture using acrylic paint.
- Mix with modeling paste, sand, or gesso for added surface interest.
- Apply with palette knives, old credit cards, or scraping tools.
Day 4: Ink & Markers
- Experiment with alcohol inks to create fluid, vibrant backgrounds.
- Add detail and layering with Posca markers or other paint pens.
- Combine bold color with intricate linework or doodles.
Day 5: Stenciling & Stamping
- Use pre-cut and handmade stencils (from acetate or cardstock).
- Experiment with foam stamps, rubber stamps, and found objects (bubble wrap, bottle caps).
- Layer patterns using sponges, spray inks, or brayers.
Day 6: Fabric & Stitching
- Introduce embroidery and hand stitching on paper or canvas.
- Sew or glue on fabric scraps, buttons, threads, and ribbons.
- Create tactile surfaces and explore texture through thread.
Day 7: Natural Elements
- Incorporate organic materials such as leaves, twigs, and dried flowers.
- Explore tea or coffee staining for aged, vintage effects.
- Try eco-printing or nature rubbings for added visual interest.
Day 8: Found Objects & Assemblage
- Work with dimensional items: bottle caps, keys, beads, string, etc.
- Explore assemblage and altered art (books, boxes, panels).
- Use glue guns or strong adhesives to create sturdy 3D structures.
Day 9: Mixed Media Project – Part 1
- Begin creating a final mixed media piece using multiple techniques learned throughout the workshop.
- Plan composition and start background layers: collage, paint, fabric, etc.
- Encourage storytelling, personal symbolism, and creative risk-taking.
Day 10: Mixed Media Project – Part 2
- Continue layering and refining the final artwork.
- Add details: stitching, found objects, stamping, text, etc.
- End with a group reflection or informal show-and-tell.
Course Day & Time: Monday evening 7.30 – 9.30

She has been working as an artist in Ireland for over 10 years providing innovative, well designed unusual gifts and a unique art experience.
