Harmony through Ayurveda: Lifestyle & Nutrition

Course Description:

Ayurveda means science of life. It is one of the sister sciences to yoga, and is a lifestyle, a holistic approach to your health and wellness, a tool for balance, wholeness and harmony.

Harmony though Ayurveda is 6-week Ayurveda lifestyle and nutrition course. Each evening classes is two hours duration. This course covers fundamental concepts and practical applications of Ayurveda for participants in a community education setting:

Week 1: Introduction to Ayurveda

Overview of Ayurveda: History, principles, and goals
Understanding the Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha): Characteristics and importance in Ayurvedic philosophy
Practical session: Dosha self-assessment quiz and discussion

Week 2: Ayurvedic Nutrition Part 1

  • Principles of Ayurvedic nutrition: Concept of six tastes (Rasa) and their importance
  • Dietary guidelines based on Dosha types
  • Ayurvedic recipes for balancing different Doshas

Week 3: Ayurvedic Nutrition Part 2

  • Importance of digestion (Agni) in Ayurveda
  • Food combinations and timings according to Doshas
  • The dis-ease process in Ayurveda

Week 4: Ayurvedic Lifestyle Practices

  • Daily routines (Dinacharya) for optimal health
  • Yoga and other recommendations based on Doshas
  • Stress management techniques: Meditation and mindfulness

Week 5: Ayurvedic Herbs and Remedies

  • Overview of key Ayurvedic herbs and spices
  • Herbal teas and supplements for common health concerns

Week 6: Ayurveda for Seasonal Health

  • recap of learnings
  • Seasonal variations in health and wellbeing
  • Ayurvedic approaches to seasonal transitions
  • Closing discussion: Integrating Ayurvedic principles into daily life

Course Day :  Thursday night

Time: 7.30 – 9.30 pm

Start Date: 19/09/24

Cost: €110

Course Format: In class with tutor. Maximum of 12 students

Duration: 6 weeks
