Course Description
Our Advanced Level 5 Certificate in Early Learning and Care will provide the student with a professional qualification now required to work in the ELC sector. This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work with children in a variety of settings. Students will gain an insight into how children learn and develop, through class participation and professional practice placement. This award also provides students with the opportunity to progress into higher education and employment. Successful graduates can progress straight into employment or can continue their studies in Early Learning and Care by progressing to year 2 in OFI.

Professional Practice Placements in Early Learning and Care
Children’s Rights, Legislation and Regulation
Holistic Care of Children 0-6 years
Early Childhood Growth and Development
Curriculum, Play and Creative Studies
Understanding and Assisting Children with Additional Needs
Early Years Educator
AIM Support Worker
Note: All applicants will be required to attend an interview.
In order to progress to Year 2 of the course, learners must successfully achieve course learning outcomes associated with Year 1.
Professional practice placement
Students must complete 150 hours on Professional Practice Placement
Learners must be Garda vetted before going on professional practice placement
Learners must pass the professional practice placement elements in each year.
Course Qualification
QQI Advanced Certificate in Early Learning and Care, QQ1 Level 5
Progression in OFI: After successfully completing all modules in QQI Level 5 Certificate in Early Learning and Care should you wish you can apply for the QQI Level 6 Certificate in Advanced Early Learning and Care(Stage 2).
