Course description
This course is for those wishing to gain a nationally recognised qualification in Dental Nursing. The course will provide learners with the necessary skills to support other members of the Dental Healthcare team across the full range of dental treatments.
Learners will undertake a range of specialist modules in dental nursing theory and practice. These will develop the knowledge and skills to provide chair side support to dentists and dental professionals while delivering a high level of patient care.

Certification
NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing.
Entry Requirements
Applications are invited from Leaving Certificate students and mature applicants. Learners must secure a clinical placement for the duration of the programme. Garda Vetting must also be completed as part of admission to the course.
All applicants require Hepatitis B Vaccination: Proof of Hepatitis B immunity/non-infection dated within 6 months of starting the programme. Proof of non-infection with Hepatitis C is also required.
Progression Options
Graduates of the NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing will be eligible to apply for entry to the Dental Council Register for Dental Nurses subject to final approval by the Dental Council of Ireland.
Students can progress to employment in HSE clinics and private practices. Successful graduates can also gain post graduate qualifications to advance to roles in the area of oral health education and promotion, dental radiography, orthodontic therapy and dental hygiene.
