Course Description
The Certificate in Payroll Techniques (CPT) is the leading payroll qualification in Ireland. The course provides students with a comprehensive and practical knowledge of the operation of the PAYE, PRSI, USC and ASC systems and a thorough knowledge of Employment Law which has a direct bearing on the operation of the payroll function. An extremely valuable qualification which is much sought after by employers.
PAYE, PRSI and USC are the largest tax liabilities which most companies incur and the largest source of tax recovered on Revenue audits. The best payroll software cannot compensate for the payroll operator’s lack of expertise in the operation of PAYE, PRSI and USC.
The payroll function is probably the only function which affects every employee in every company. Employers need to ensure that payroll staff are given the necessary training to enable them to perform their duties to the highest standard. Apart from the positive effect on all staff, which an accurate and efficient payroll service will generate, employers need to ensure that inadequate or inaccurate knowledge of their payroll staff does not lead to problems with the Revenue, the Dept. of Social Protection or the Dept. of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. In the present era of self-assessment and Revenue audits, professionally qualified payroll staff can make a huge difference to the financial and functional performance of any business.
Once you have completed this course you will become an invaluable member of any employer’s financial team, enhance your career development prospects, enhance your payroll skills, technical expertise, and confidence and develop professional skills and abilities through the application of advanced training.
