Course Description
This online part-time course (1 year) aims to provide students with a strong grounding and transferable skills in digital animation production processes, a solid understanding of the production pipeline, and techniques for both 2D and 3D. The online flexible mode of delivery allows you to study at times that suit your schedule, from any location (with internet access).

The course is a 100% online course which has 10 contact hours per week which are scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Evenings (after 6pm). Next intake is January 2024
The 2020 Critical Skills Summary Report by the Department of Business identified a number of roles within the 2D/3D animation field to be critical skills. Occupations are only identified as being critical skills if there is an identified shortage of skills within Ireland. This follows calls by major production companies calling for an overhaul in permits as they are struggling to fill roles. For example, in 2017 Brown Bag films hired 107 new staff, with 31 of those coming from outside of Ireland and the EEA
In Technology Skills 2022, Ireland’s Third ICT Skills Action Plan, Animation has been specifically identified as a “Potential Area for Development”. In the Solas Difficult to Fill Vacancies Survey 2021, identified science, engineering and technology as being the field which identified the most difficult filling roles, with the area of software development being mentioned specifically (Solas – Monitoring Ireland’s Skills Supply 2021)
