Career Coaching – Taking Charge of My Career

The program is suitable for the following categories, but everybody is welcome to join:

In this comprehensive program we will be looking at a number of different aspects of the career concept including some smart structures and tools to get you started.

What the Course will Cover

1. Career as a concept 

We will start by looking at the definition of career, how it is defined and how it can be understood.

2.What determines a career

This part will be examining the many reasons people end up with the career/s they have in a lifetime and some of the aspects that will have an impact on the decisions we make.

3.Review and reflection of my career so far

This part is a self assessment of the career so far that I have had, my ambitions and goals and we will reflect on how those experiences have been.

4.What are companies looking for when recruiting?

We will be taking a look inside companies and the practices and tools they use when they hire people to better understand how to enhance our careers in an organisation.

5.Can I change myself to get the career that I want?

Here we will be looking at some basic psychology for how we can change and develop as individuals to get the career we want and also discuss what is realistic.

6.Career anchor self assessment

We will be using a tool for self assessment to establish what is important to us at work and what type of environment we thrive in.

7.Deciding on my direction

Based on the learnings and reflections, we will get ready to make the decision of what direction we want to have with our career going forward.

8.My action plan

Everybody can set out their plan for creating the careers that they want, including any training, certification, experience required to get there.

Course Day & Time: Tuesday evenings 7.30 – 9.00

Cost: €110

Course Format: In class with tutor

Duration: 10 weeks – Maximum of 12 students in class
