Arts – 3 years
Students choose four subjects from the list below in Year 1, with not more than one subject from any group:
Group 1: Asian Studies, Computer Science***, History, Portuguese
Group 2(a)*: Applied Mathematics, European Studies, Folklore, Gaeilge/Irish, Greek and Roman Civilisation
Group 2(b)*: History of Art
Group 3: Archaeology, Chinese Studies, German, Latin***, Mathematics, Mathematical Studies, Politics
Group 4: French, Sociology, Studies in Music
Group 5: Béaloideas, Economics, English, Greek***, Religions and Global Diversity
Group 6(a)**: Geography, Italian
Group 6(b)**: Celtic Civilisation, Philosophy, Spanish
Years 2, 3: Students continue with 2 subjects of their choosing from Year 1. Students decide how much of each subject they wish to study
according to one of the following combinations:
Single Subject: 50 credits + 10 credits
Major Subject: 40 credits + 20 credits
Joint Subject: 30 credits + 30 credits
*Groups 2(a) and 2(b): Students can combine History of Art with any other Group 2 subject in First Year only.
**Groups 6(a) and 6(b): Students may not combine Italian with Celtic Civilisation or Philosophy in Second Year. From Second Year, students
may combine Italian and Spanish. Students may not combine Geography with Celtic Civilisation, Philosophy or Spanish in Second Year.
***These subjects are available in First Arts and thereafter only as a 10-credit subject in the Single Subject programme. - CK 102 Social Science
