WHAT IS BUSINESS AND TOURISM?
This one-year course is an ideal entry level course for those
interested in developing skills to work in the growing
tourism sector in Ireland.
This tourism programme has been designed to enable
students to gain a broad understanding of the operations of
the tourism industry and to facilitate their integration into
the workplace or into further education and training.
It also allows students to appreciate the opportunities
presented by the web and eBusiness to successfully market
products and services. Many students progress to work in
the travel and tourism sector.
The event production element focuses on the management
and production of corporate, leisure and cultural events.
This course gives students an opportunity to study the
area of tourism and travel, both from the technology skills
required and from the tourist industry perspective.
This qualification can be used to progress to certificate
and degree programmes in technological universities or
universities particularly in business departments.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates may pursue a degree in many technological
universities around the country or, alternatively, may seek
immediate employment in a range of tourist or other
marketing areas. The Tourism and Business option will allow
students to progress to colleges like TUD City campus,
Tallaght, UCC, NUIG, Shannon College of Hotel Management
(Shannon) for tourism and travel as well as other colleges
for business certificates and degrees.
