WHAT IS SPORTS MANAGEMENT WITH
BUSINESS?
This one-year course aims to prepare students for work in
the sports, recreation or leisure industries.
Sports management with Business graduates will gain the
social, communication and leadership skills to work with
individuals and groups in the growing sports
management areas.
Many of the skills acquired will be transferable for use in
business or community development settings. The Sports
Management with Business course will lay a foundation for
these skills and provide the work experience to put learning
into practice.
This programme is ideal for both school leavers and
experienced, mature persons seeking a qualification in this
area. It will allow graduates to apply for programmes in
Ireland or abroad. By taking science modules, students can
claim the science award and apply for
Health Science in DCU.
Specialised facilities
Practical classes will be timetabled on-site
at Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and
the National gymnastics Training Centre at Sports
Campus Ireland Campus.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The new Sports Management and Coaching degree
course in TUD Blanchardstown will offer graduates a local
alternative to advance their studies to honours degree level.
Graduates can also access honours sports programmes in
TUD City Campus, Dundalk Institute of Technology, UCC,
South East Technological University Carlow and Waterford,
Munster Technological University, Tralee, Atlantic
Technological University, Letterkenny or students can apply
for scholarship programmes in Ireland or the U.S.
Students can progress to PE Teaching via an undergraduate
degree at Munster Technological University Tralee or
Cork and to the Postgraduate Master in PE Teaching at
U.L. Sports graduates can apply to First Arts in Maynooth
University where 175 places are reserved for QQI entrants.
The course will give graduates the opportunity to become
sports development officers or work in areas like gyms,
leisure centres or sports clubs. The general qualification will
lead to careers in the rapidly expanding leisure industry.
Graduates of this course also have the option to pursue a
QQI level 6 course in Sports or Leisure Management.
