Leads to NFQ Level 6 QQI Award in Cartoon Animation 6M5545
The Animation industry in Ireland is vibrant and growing and has been identified as an area in which there are significant skills gaps.
This course will develop strong skills in the area of computerised animation; 3D design and modelling; and developing animation sequences and stories. Students will be equipped with the ‘digital toolbox’ to enhance opportunities to enter the creative digital industry.
This course is also suitable for previous graduates of other visual courses (photography, graphic design, web design, multimedia etc.) who feel the need to improve their digital skills and familiarise themselves with industry-standard software for returning to the workforce.
Graduates of the course will be ready for entry-level positions in the computerised animation industry.
Entry Requirements
It is desirable that students have a prior qualification (QQI Level 5 or equivalent) in the broad Art/Design area. Applicants without an existing qualification will be required to demonstrate that they have the required aptitude and skills for this course. When called for interview all applicants will be asked to present a portfolio of their work.
Progression
Successful students will have a strong portfolio that will direct them towards employment; or enable them to apply through the Higher Education Links Scheme to a range of colleges in Ireland and further afield.
