In an uncertain time for leaving cert students, it is good to have some definite options for third level study. One of these options is Further Education otherwise known as PLC (Post Leaving Certificate) study. PLC Courses are validated by QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) at levels 5 & 6 of the NFQ and offer a valid and valuable route onto the workforce whilst also offering the option to proceed onwards with further or higher education.
PLC Courses are eligible for SUSI grant funding and application procedures are currently easier than ever with many colleges facilitating online applications. Some colleges are waiving the interview process altogether and will offer places to all qualifying applicants on a first come, first served basis.. For many students it could be a good idea to apply for a PLC course alongside CAO application therefore widening the options to choose from next Autumn.
Given the uncertainty around the exams and with many students worried about future study options, it is important to apply for FE courses as soon as possible.
