Dublin South East Community Training Centre

Dublin South East Community Training Centre (DSECTC) offers second chance education for young people between the ages of 16 and 21 years, who may have left school early or need to acquire new skills. DSECTC, formerly known as Ringsend CTC, formed in 1986 to provide accredited training programmes. These programmes are funded and supported by the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB), and trainees will have access to a training allowance.

The four QQI accredited Level 4 Major Award Courses on offer are:

ECDL and Information & Communications Technology
Digital Media & Photography
Sports & Health Related Fitness
Retail Skills

There are additional supports provided in the form of literacy & numeracy support, counselling service and advocacy as well as links with other local supports. Successful graduates can access Level 5 PLC courses, apprenticeships or often go into full-time employment.

CDETB provide, support and co-ordinate a comprehensive range of professional high-quality education, training and youth services in Dublin city. Education and Training Boards are also responsible for supporting further and higher education students through SUSI, the national awarding authority for student grants.

Dublin and Dun Laoghaire ETB

DDLETB offers a huge range of Further Education and Training courses in locations ranging from Tallaght, Lucan, Balbriggan, Baldoyle, Dundrum and many more. The ETB provides a wide range of education and training programmes, services and supports to children, young people and adults from Balbriggan in north Dublin, to Dún Laoghaire in south Dublin and Lucan in west Dublin.

Short Courses with DCU

Dublin City University offers a range of online short courses and micro-credentials through partnership with FutureLearn. Offering an increasing suite of online short courses, mini modules and credit-bearing micro-credentials aimed at promoting greater access to higher education and more flexible pathways for career development and life-long learning. Most of these short courses are free and they provide a great way to extend your mind and inspire you to further your education. Some of these short courses also provide credit towards a DCU qualification. DCU also offer a number of Scholarships for online study for refugees and asylum seekers living in Ireland.
